Police: Knife-Sharpening Rod Used in Stabbing Incident

The suspect allegedly stabbed a victim during a fight in the 1250 block of Contra Costa Boulevard.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a person with a knife-sharpening rod on Tuesday night in Pleasant Hill, according to police.

The man, identified by police as Pittsburg resident Juan Gutierrez, allegedly stabbed a victim during a fight in the 1250 block of Contra Costa Boulevard.

During the fight, which was reported to police at 10:44 p.m., a victim was stabbed in the leg and abdomen with a knife-sharpening rod.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. He was booked into Martinez Detention Facility on $30,000 bail.
