Calling all druids… need a break from hectic holiday shopping? Join Greenbelt Alliance on a nature hike to celebrate the Winter Solstice.

We’ll explore the slopes of Mount Diablo in search of (Santa’s) beard lichen, romantic mistletoe, and colorful Christmas berry. We might even see a mule deer masquerading as a reindeer.

From our lunch spot, we’ll have a great view of the shuttered Concord Naval Weapons Station, for which Greenbelt Alliance helped the City adopt a visionary reuse plan.

Cost: $6/vehicle park entrance fee (exact change required)
Weather policy: Rain cancels
What to Bring: Lunch, liquids, and hiking poles (if you normally use them); dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes
Where to meet: Meet at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center in Mount Diablo State Park (Map)

If you have any questions about this outing, contact Ken Lavin atklavin@greenbelt.org or (415) 543-6771 ext. 321.
