Second Earthquake Strikes East Bay

The quake struck Tuesday evening and was centered beneath Pleasant Hill, according to the USGS.

PLEASANT HILL, CA — Less than 24 hours after a 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit near the East Bay city of Pleasant Hill, the city was struck by another quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was recorded at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 and was centered under Pleasant Hill at a depth of 9 miles, the USGS reported.

Monday's 4.5-magnitude quake shook the East Bay at 10:33 p.m. and was centered less than a mile from Pleasant Hill.

Tuesday evening's quake was centered 0.1 miles from Pleasant Hill, 2.6 miles from Pacheco, 2.8 miles from Concord, 2.9 miles from Walnut Creek and 12.8 miles from Berkeley, according to the USGS.
