Student, 13, Threatened Mass Shooting On Last Day Of School: PD

Pleasant Hill police say several guns were found at the Martinez home of a Valley View Middle School student arrested for terrorist threats.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A Martinez teen was arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats against a Pleasant Hill School. The alleged threat against Valley View Middle School on Viking Drive was discovered in a social media message, a Pleasant Hill Police Department official said in a news release Monday. The FBI notified the Concord Police Department on Friday about the message which was shared between two students at the middle school. Concord police in turn notified Pleasant Hill police, according to Lt. David Nichols.

"... The message regarded a mass shooting which was scheduled to occur on the last day of school," Nichols said.

Police from both Pleasant Hill and Concord served a search warrant at a Martinez residence, where several firearms were seized, the lieutenant said.

A 13-year-old who attends Valley View Middle School was arrested and booked into Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of making terrorist threats, Nichols said.

The last day of school at the middle school is Thursday, June 7.
