Suspect Leads Cops On Chase In Stolen Vehicle From Concord To Antioch

The Wednesday night incident began at the North Concord BART station.

Police in Concord on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with stealing a vehicle and leading police on a high-speed pursuit.

The suspect, identified only as a 31-year-old man from San Francisco, was arrested on a warrant and for fleeing from officers in a stolen vehicle, police said. Officers were dispatched at 8:48 p.m. to the North Concord BART station to assist BART police in the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

A BART community service officer located the vehicle, a 1998 Honda Accord reported stolen out of San Francisco, in the BART parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied, but the suspect arrived at the vehicle, got inside and drove out of the parking lot, police said.

The suspect led police on a high-speed pursuit onto state Highway 4 and then onto Contra Loma Boulevard, police said. The suspect then drove through Antioch, where he parked the vehicle and tried to flee from officers on foot. He was taken into custody on Putnam Drive.

Police said he suffered minor injuries to his foot during the arrest and has been treated and released from the hospital.
