Suspect Sought In Tuesday Bank Robbery In Nearby Lafayette
Police deployed helicopter and K-9 unit during late afternoon search for the man, described as in his late-40s with a goatee. [Breaking]
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank just before closing late Tuesday afternoon in Lafayette.
Officers responded to a U.S. Bank in the 2400 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard at 4:42 p.m. on reports of a robbery that had just occurred, according to police.
Police said officers as well as a helicopter and K-9 team set up a perimeter and locked-down the area to search for the suspect, but he was not located.

Officer said the man entered the branch, approached a teller, announced he was robbing the bank and demanded cash. No weapons were displayed.
The teller handed over cash, which the suspect dropped onto the counter, then gathered up and fled the bank on foot running south toward Mount Diablo Boulevard, police said. It is unknown where he went after reaching Mount Diablo, but detectives believe he left the area in a vehicle.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his late 40s who is 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, dark hair, a dark-colored goatee with gray in it.
Police said he was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with "FOX" in white letters.
