The Farmers' Market is a Bowl of Cherries Saturday

A perfect Pleasant Hill morning: The first fruits of summer and the old-timey twang of the Prairie Rose Band.

It’s bing time, the first sweet tart taste of summer. Cherries are the featured produce at the Pleasant Hill Farmers Market on Saturday, and we’ll be picking up a pound or two or three. While the fruit are delicious on their own, they are also great in everything from savory meat dishes to an old-fashioned pie.

What’s your favorite cherry recipe? Tell us in the comments.

Speaking of old-fashioned, the musical entertainment at Saturday’s market will be provided by the Prairie Rose Band. Listen to them sing this old Jimmie Rodgers tune about the bounty of the summertime harvest.
