North of Contra Costa there stands one of the Malls still thriving in America, Sunvalley Shopping Center. With the addition of Round 1 and the plethora of eateries the new food court offers, it certainly enhances the "going to the mall" experience. However, outside of that, there hasn't been a shopping destination that 680 North to the Benicia Bridge could call its own. However, commercial developers have discovered that 680 South has become too pricey, and that it's no longer go West young man: It's go North to Concord.
The Veranda provides more than new shopping for retail, food and restaurants. It has our desired awesome and ultimate big screen experience with the new IMAX Theatre. The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting was on December 6, 2017, but the doors aren’t open yet (ticket's online at Fandango). That said it doesn’t give way to disappointment, because the Veranda has given us more to focus on rather than our insatiable shopping pleasure. It has answered our need for additional entertainment enhanced with #IceAtTheVeranda. Yes, the Veranda has a beautiful new Ice Skating Rink for your winter pleasure with festive lit trees illuminating the chilly night air, along with a quaint and wonderful children's play area, plenty of seating, and nice paved walk ways it truly is a strolling delight. We have given up a walk down Main Street to arrive at a main shopping destination that offers ambiance, entertainment and activities.
