Unhealthy Air Forecast In Pleasant Hill, East Bay

An air quality index of 101 is forecast Saturday in Pleasant Hill and the East Bay.

EAST BAY, CA — A "Spare the Air Alert" is in effect is Saturday, June 30, for the San Francisco Bay Area. Concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution are forecast to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, especially in the East Bay and the Santa Clara Valley, where the air quality index will be 101, according to Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

When there is an AQI of 101, active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit outdoor exertion, officials with the BAAQMD say.

On days when an air alert is in effect, all Bay Area residents are asked to drive less in order to reduce smog in the region.
