To demonstrate its commitment to a healthier Pleasant Hill, the superfood café will donate a portion of its January proceeds from the “Resolution Bowl” to the Action for Healthy Kids California chapter, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the fight against childhood obesity, undernourishment and physical inactivity by helping schools become healthier places so kids can live healthier lives.
“Through our Fresh Start initiative, we aim to empower Pleasant Hill residents to make healthier decisions in 2017, even if that just means a slight change in what you choose to eat for breakfast. We want to shift the concept of healthy from a simple choice to a mindset,” said Tara Gilad, local owner of Vitality Bowls. “Vitality Bowls is committed to giving back and investing in the health our community – it’s part of our role as a local business.”

To keep the momentum going, customers who submit photos of their acai bowls using #FreshStart are also encouraged to include a note or caption about their personal new years resolution – or what they plan to accomplish in the new year. At the end of the month, one #FreshStart submission will win a $100 Vitality Bowl gift card.
