Walnut Run to Benefit Walnut Creek Schools

September 13 event promises fun for the entire family

Lace up your running shoes for the 2015 Walnut Run on Sunday, September 13 at 8:00 a.m. The annual run, powered by Hall Equities Group, includes a 5K, 10K, a free Kids Fun Run and photo booth. Runners in costume are encouraged.

Net proceeds from this year’s race, which starts at 1201 Main Street, will benefit Walnut Creek schools, the Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF) and Partners for Educational Achievement in K- 12 (P.E.A.K). Proceeds from the race are distributed by the percentage of affiliated participants from each school. The more runners from a school, the larger percentage of funds earned. This is the second year that proceeds from the race will benefit school children in the City of Walnut Creek. In 2014, The Walnut Run donated $8,000.

The Walnut Run was established in 2014 by Eric Miller of Monumental Racing. A group of local friends, who all share a love for health and community, share the production responsibilities. Race director Eric Miller, says “I love how an event like The Walnut Run can bring so many people together on a Sunday morning. The race caters to all athletic abilities. You do not have to be a runner to participate. Grab a coffee and walk the 5K. That is what my family does.”
