$10K Scholarship Available To Amador Valley Class Of 2024
Graduating AVHS seniors can apply for the $10,000 David Yandell Award Service Scholarship for outstanding community leadership.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Three Valleys Community Foundation is partnering with Amador Valley High School to offer a $10,000 scholarship in honor of former AVHS teacher and counselor David Yandell.
The Yandell family has allocated a $10,000 contribution to the David Yandell Award Service Scholarship, which is currently awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding service and leadership to the greater community. Starting with the Amador Valley class of 2024, one student a year will receive a $10,000 scholarship alongside the senior service award.
David Yandell was a valued teacher who taught at AVHS for many years until he retired in 1997. He and his wife Rosie raised five children who graduated from the school between 1978 and 1997. He said in a statement that he is “honored and touched to have this award and scholarship for students who have shown outstanding service to their school and community.”

“As the son of an educator, I value and appreciate the sacrifice and contribution of public educators and the importance of educational opportunity beyond high school. This is my way of honoring my father and his legacy as well as giving back to Amador, which has given my family so much,” said Keith Yandell, his youngest son who helped fund the scholarship.
“We are pleased to partner with 3VCF and the Yandell family to provide this scholarship opportunity,” said AVHS Principal Jon Fey. “Per the family’s guidelines, the scholarship application process will be open to any graduating student, with priority consideration given to those demonstrating financial need and/or whose parents are educators."

“It is exciting to work directly with community members to help them realize their philanthropic goals and channel funds toward worthy causes,” said 3VCF CEO Kelly Bowers, who previously served as the superintendent of Livermore Joint Unified School District. “As a former superintendent of schools, I can’t think of a better investment than furthering the education of our next generation. I am inspired by David’s legacy and Keith’s benevolence. And I am confident others will be too! Looking ahead, it is my sincere hope this is the first of many legacy scholarships that 3VCF will host and support.”
