4H Rabbit Stolen From Alameda County Fair

The little animal was taken from its cage.

PLEASANTON, CA — A 4H rabbit was stolen from its exhibit at the Alameda County Fair late Saturday night, according to fair officials. Buster the Bunny was taken after someone bent the cage open in order to remove him. NBC Bay Area reported that his owner is "heartbroken."

The fair will be increasing their staffing in that area as a result of the incident. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft. No other information is available.

Although it is rare, animal thefts have happened during the past fairs. In 2016, another 4H rabbit was stolen from its cage. Exhibitors are asked to use sturdy cages and multiple locks in order to protect their animals, according to fair officials.
