Alameda County Fair Records More Than 400K Visitors

The Alameda County Fair came roaring back this summer, seeing large increases in everything from visitors to cotton candy consumption.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Alameda County Fair saw big gains during its run from June 17 to July 10.

Over 418,553 people attended this year’s fair, a more than fourfold increase from the 100,000 who reportedly showed up over nine days in October 2021.

“The road to summer was a fun ride, packed with summer traditions and memories made,” Alameda County Fairgrounds CEO Jerome Hoban said in a statement. “We are thankful to all our amazing guests and community members who came out to enjoy the Fair and we can’t wait to make more memories next year.”

Here’s a look at some other large increases:

  • Cotton candy consumption: 13,356 (up 175 percent)
  • Burger consumption: 11,937 (up 103 percent)
  • Jr. Livestock auction: $894,000 (up 25 percent)
  • Horse racing track attendance: 59,744 (up 21 percent)
  • Candy apple consumption (up 20 percent)
  • Fair volunteers: 728 *up 16 percent)

The fair received 7,948 competitive exhibit entries, saw 2,217 exhibitors, raised $40,728 in small animal sales, and $16,366.55 in fine art sales.

The fair included a wide array of attractions, including a nightly drone show, nightly concerts, a carnival and rides, numerous competitions, an “Extreme Medieval Stunt Show” an LGBTQ Out at the Fair celebration, and much more. See alamedacountyfair.com for more information.
