Alex Lennox earns Eagle Scout Award

An Eagle Court of Honor will be held on Feb 10, 2019 for Alexander Brandon Swenson-Lennox. Alexander resides in Pleasanton, his parents are Michael Lennox and Andrea Swenson.
Alex is a member of Troop 998, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6298. Alex has served his troop in a variety of leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide.
He is a senior at Foothill High School where he plays hockey and is a AA hockey player for the Golden State Elite Eagles. He is also an avid musician, plays the piano, guitar and sings in the Foothill High School choir. He plans to attend college in the fall and study Business and Environmental Science.

For his Eagle Scout community project, he worked with the Friends of the Arroyo, the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District and Rotary International, to plant native species of trees in Sycamore Grove Park and new trees in Marlin Pound Neighborhood Park to replace those affected by the drought.
Alex’s father is very involved in Scouting, an Eagle Scout himself and is the Training Chair for the Twin Valley District of the Boys Scouts of America. Alex received his Eagle Award with 37 merit badges, 16 more than the number required for the award which qualifies him for 3 palms in addition to his Eagle award.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. They must also plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project benefiting a religious institution, school or community group.
