PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton Unified School District is the best school district in Alameda County and the 17th best in California, according to new rankings from Niche. Niche also ranked Amador Valley High School as the best in Alameda County and the 11th best in the Bay Area, and Foothill High School as the second best in Alameda County and the 15th best in the Bay Area.

The district also ranked 7th in the Bay Area, 7th for best teachers in the Bay Area, and 9th for best school districts for athletes. See here for more rankings.

Niche’s 2024 Best Schools and Districts rankings include data on 94,058 public schools, 30,809 private schools and 12,192 school districts.

This year’s rankings include 7,375 newly ranked public schools, including 312 public high schools in the Bay Area.

Niche also ranked 94,058 public schools and 30,809 private schools. The platform said its rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.
The Top 25 Public High Schools In The Bay Area list was dominated by the Peninsula, Santa Clara County and the East Bay, although one school in the North Bay broke through.
The rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
