📰 News we're reading

• Former Danville Town Manager To Take Over As Pleasanton Interim City Manager (patch.com) — Pleasanton is getting a new interim city manager as longtime Danville leader Joe Calabrigo steps in this Friday, following Gerry Beaudin’s departure to become Alameda’s city manager. Calabrigo will earn $25,000 a month from Pleasanton’s General Fund while guiding city operations, as Beaudin reflects on four years of work repositioning Pleasanton for a “brighter future.”

• City Council Approves Hidden Canyon Development (independentnews.com) — Pleasanton’s City Council has approved the Hidden Canyon Residences project, allowing 28 new homes on 131 acres near Dublin Canyon Road while dedicating about half the land as open space and a new Pleasanton Ridge staging area. The deal includes a new traffic signal, $500,000 for road improvements, strict hillside protections, and enhanced fire-safety standards, though construction is still about three years away.

• Federal PFAS Regulations Are on Chopping Block (independentnews.com) — Pleasanton’s groundwater wells remain offline due to PFAS contamination, but Zone 7 and the City of Pleasanton are moving ahead with two new wells outside the plume and a third treatment plant. Even as federal regulators move to roll back some PFAS rules, Zone 7 says it will stick with California’s stricter standards to protect local drinking water and reliability.
