Weather forecast:
1. Missing Juvenile Located In Pleasanton (patch.com) — Pleasanton residents may be relieved to learn that an at-risk juvenile reported missing near Foothill Road and Santos Ranch Road was safely found after a large search effort. Pleasanton police set up a command post at a local trailhead and, with help from East Bay Regional Park District police drones, located the juvenile on a ridge south of the Castle Ridge Trailhead and reunited them with family.
2. 3 Arrested After Catalytic Converter Theft: Pleasanton Police (patch.com) — Pleasanton police arrested three people from Stockton after a resident quickly reported suspicious activity that turned out to be a catalytic converter theft in town. Officers stopped the suspect vehicle as it left the area, confirmed the theft, and credited the alert Pleasanton community member with helping prevent additional crimes.
3. Pleasanton Preps: Is horse racing in Pleasanton really gone forever? (pleasantonweekly.com) — Pleasanton residents are facing a second straight Alameda County Fair without live horse racing, and some are wondering if the tradition is gone for good. A longtime local racing fan and handicapper says there’s a push brewing to bring racing back in 2027 and invites Pleasanton-area readers to share their own summer sports story ideas from any level or sport.
4. PUSD Committee backs off bid to raise trustee pay (pleasantonweekly.com) — Pleasanton Unified’s policy committee has shelved, for now, a proposal to raise school board stipends from $463 to as much as $2,000 a month after residents objected during a June 4 meeting. Trustees and community members are split between concerns over the district’s shaky finances and arguments that higher pay could open board service to more working families, with the issue likely to return later.
5. This affluent Bay Area region is booming. So is its homelessness crisis (sfchronicle.com) — Homelessness is rising in Pleasanton and the wider Tri-Valley even as larger Alameda County cities report declines, with Pleasanton’s unhoused count increasing from 70 to 96 since 2024. Livermore’s shelters are serving many Tri-Valley residents because Pleasanton and neighboring cities lack year-round facilities, highlighting a growing gap between the area’s affluence, rapid growth, and limited affordable housing and services.
