PLEASANTON, CA — A 24-year-old Pleasanton man allegedly damaged windows and entered a Hansen Drive home early Thursday after mistakenly believing he was at a different residence, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. He was later arrested in Dublin for an unrelated restraining-order violation.

At 12:17 a.m. on Sept. 10, Pleasanton officers responded to reports of a gun shot at the 5600 block of Hansen Drive, according to PPD Sgt. Marty Billdt. Officers arrived and determined that the noise was caused by breaking glass. The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Joshua Martin of Pleasanton, entered the house before officers arrived.

Police identified Martin based on his admission to a family member that he had been at the residence, Billdt said. Investigators believe he acted alone.

While officers were investigating the case, Martin drove to a family residence in Livermore, Billdt said. He told family members that he would be driving to an address in Dublin. Before police could arrive to speak with him, Martin told a family member he would be driving to an address in Dublin.

Dublin Police Services located Martin near the Dublin address, and determined he was violating an active restraining order. Martin was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail for the violation. Police said the restraining order was unrelated to the Hansen Drive incident.

An investigation determined that Martin mistakenly believed he was at a different residence, and there is no indication that residents of the Hansen Drive home were specifically targeted.

Police submitted the Pleasanton case to the District Attorney's Office to review as a vandalism case, Billdt said.
