PLEASANTON, CA — The 925 is celebrating 9 to 5 on 9/25. The Three Valleys Community Foundation is honoring Dolly Parton on Sept. 25, which the California legislature recently proclaimed as Dolly Parton Day.
Even before the beloved country singer died, 3VCF launched its second annual 24-hour online giving campaign, 925 Gives, which encourages the community to donate until Friday, Sept. 25, when a 24-hour online giving event will occur. Last year, the 925 Gives campaign raised more than $117,000 for 87 local nonprofit organizations, according to 3VCF.
In celebration of Dolly Parton's philanthropic legacy, 3VCF will donate $925 to the nonprofit that receives the highest number of online donations from unique individuals between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If there is a tie, the prize will be awarded to the qualifying highest number organization with the highest total dollar amount earned during that time frame.
"Dolly Parton was, of course, a beloved music icon whose extraordinary talent has brought joy to generations, but her legacy reaches far beyond the songs she wrote and performed," said Dr. Kelly Bowers, CEO/President of Three Valleys Community Foundation.
"She understood the power of using her success to lift up others. From putting books directly into the hands of millions of children through her Imagination Library, to supporting education, health care, medical research, disaster relief, and so many other causes, her generosity has changed lives. It is especially fitting that California will honor Dolly on 9/25, and that here in our own community, we can pay tribute to her extraordinary philanthropic spirit by devoting a traditional '9 to 5' working day to giving back and helping local nonprofits make an even greater difference."
