• Pleasanton Names New Superintendent After Ghysels Plans Early Retirement (patch.com) — Pleasanton Unified has chosen longtime district leader Ed Diolazo as its next superintendent, succeeding Maurice Ghysels, who plans to retire at the end of 2026. Diolazo, who helped guide Pleasanton schools through remote learning, fiscal stabilization, and expanded special education, will take over on Jan. 1, 2027, under a contract running through mid-2030.
• Man killed in shooting at Dublin Sports Grounds (danvillesanramon.com) — A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon at Dublin Sports Grounds, a short drive from Pleasanton, and all known suspects are now in custody, according to Dublin Police Services. Investigators have not released the victim's identity or a possible motive, and they're urging anyone with information to contact Sgt. Ahmad Mateen as they continue piecing together what happened.
