• Harvest Park, Hart middle schools unveil $20.7 million athletic upgrades (pleasantonweekly.com) — Pleasanton families now have access to brand-new tracks and synthetic turf fields at Harvest Park and Hart middle schools, part of a $20.7 million Measure I investment. With Pleasanton Middle School upgraded last year, all three PUSD middle schools now feature modern athletic facilities designed for year-round use, reduced water consumption and expanded opportunities for PE, sports, and community recreation.
   

• Pleasanton man takes plea deal in fatal Crow Canyon crash (pleasantonweekly.com) — A 28-year-old Pleasanton resident has taken a plea deal after allegedly driving more than 150 mph while drunk in a San Ramon crash that killed a Castro Valley nurse last November. He pleaded no contest to manslaughter, DUI and assault, avoiding trial, and is set for sentencing Oct. 15 in Martinez. Residents may follow this case as it involves a local man and a high-profile East Bay collision.
   

• Dublin, Pleasanton Animal Shelter Costs Rise After Livermore Pulls Out (patch.com) — Pleasanton residents should know that regional animal shelter costs are shifting after Livermore left a long-standing cost-sharing agreement for the East County Animal Shelter. Dublin's council is weighing a new one-year deal with Alameda County and Pleasanton that keeps the sheriff's office running the facility, but raises Dublin's share and could influence future funding expectations for Pleasanton as a partner city.
