Christian Lester will receive his Eagle Scout award at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on January 3, 2027. Christian is the son of Tim and Elizabeth Lester of Pleasanton, California. He is a member of Troop 948 sponsored by GraceWay Church in Pleasanton. Thanks go to his Scoutmaster, Louis Fong, for his dedication to Scouting and help along the way. Christian is the fourth son of Tim and Elizabeth, who has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Tim, John and Mark previously earned the award.
Christian has been active in Scouting and has served two terms as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Christian says about Scouting, "Scouting has taught me many valuable lessons on how to be a leader, and on how to work with others. These skills will especially help me through my years of high school as I am involved with activities that require leadership and teamwork skills."
His Eagle Scout project consisted of making and donating 90 no-sew knotted fleece blankets to Project Linus, a charity that provides blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. Each blanket measured 54 by 60 inches. Christian organized a blanket-making event involving 13 volunteers who contributed a total of 115 hours. Project Linus distributed the blankets to San Jose area hospitals for children and reported that the donation helped meet a large demand from local trauma centers for this small comfort item.
Christian is a 10th-grade student at Amador Valley High School. He enjoys playing drums and performing in the school's Jazz Band, Marching Band and Winter Percussion programs. After graduating from high school, he would like to attend college and explore music, film and political science.
To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.
