Bernal Bridge Now Open To Normal Traffic

The repairs, which delayed drivers for about two months, are done and traffic is back to normal.

PLEASANTON, CA — Repairs and maintenance of the Bernal Bridge have been completed. The work, which started in June, was completed on August 10, a few days ahead of schedule and before Foothill High School students returned to school Monday morning.

In December, the city council voted to approve the maintenance project. City officials planned the repairs to begin once area schools were out for the summer. The work delayed bridge traffic, which was temporarily reduced to one lane, for the last two months.

The heavily traveled bridge crosses over the Arroyo de la Laguna, which drains the Tri-Valley area south through Niles Canyon, between Foothill Boulevard and I-680. The repair work was part of the city’s Bridge Maintenance Program, which was established in 2011. There are 58 bridges in Pleasanton.
