Brush Fire Burned 44 Acres Near Ruby Hill
The blaze started when a car caught fire on Highway 84.
PLEASANTON, CA — Firefighters extinguished vegetation fire in Pleasanton Friday afternoon, fire officials said. The blaze was reported in the area of Vallecitos Road and Ruby Hill Drive at 3:55 p.m. The fire started when a car caught fire on Highway 84.
"The wind and high temperature contributed to a rapid rate of spread leading to a full vegetation response including local and state mutual aid," Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Aaron Lacy said in a statement. "The fast-moving fire threatened one residential structure within the area. The structure was not damaged due to several units working on the ground and Cal Fire aircraft suppression during the incident."
No one was injured during the fire. Traffic on Highway 84 was delayed in both directions due to the firefighting efforts. Flames burned 44 acres before firefighters fully contained it.
