Niles Fire: Containment Grows, 80 Acres Charred
No structures burned and there are no reports of injuries. #NilesFire

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Cal Fire reports that forward spread of the Niles Fire has been stopped with 20 acres blackened and 80 percent containment. No injuries have been reported and no structures are threatened.
East Bay Regional Parks reports that the fire is in Palomares Canyon at Garin Regional Park. EBRPD expected full containment to take place overnight, with an extended mop-up period.
Crews from multiple departments including Alameda County Fire Department and Cal Fire manned the fire lines in steep terrain. At one point, about 100 firefighters were battling the flames, according to reports. An air attack also played a role in halting the fire.

The fire was reported at 34345 Palomeres Road at about 2:50 p.m., according to the Pulsepoint phone application.
