Castlewood Country Club to Host Book Signing

Author Carole MacRobert Steele recently released "Phoebe's House: A Hearst Legacy" after being inspired by club memories.

PLEASANTON, CA — Former Pleasanton resident and author Carole MacRobert Steele will visit Castlewood Country Club on August 10 for a book signing featuring her newly released book.

Steele, who writes about places near to her heart, is the author of “Phoebe's House: A Hearst Legacy.” Steele’s parents were members of Castlewood Country Club in the 1950s and her childhood memories of the club inspired her to pen the book.

“I believe in preserving history by documenting it in printed form using words and photos,” Steele said. “The many ‘lives’ of Phoebe Hearst’s Pleasanton estate has never been documented in book form; until now. Although Castlewood is active and prosperous, Phoebe’s Hacienda has been somewhat forgotten after the fire of 1969 that burned it to the ground.”
