Chabot Cross Country Newcomers Shine In Fresno Invite
Muhammed Ahmed, out of Saint Mary's College and Newark Memorial High, finishes second; Dublin graduate Daniel Trampe takes ninth.
The Chabot men’s cross country team opened the season with a rousing fifth-place finish at the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park on Sept. 10.
Overall, it was an impressive showing for Chabot with a new cast. The top seven from the 2021 squad have all graduated and transferred to four-year schools.
Muhammed Ahmed, formerly of Saint Mary’s College and Newark Memorial High, led the Gladiators finishing second as an individual behind only Cristian Martinez of American River, the state 1,500-meter champion in track season.

Ahmed had a time of 21 minutes, 05 seconds over 4.0 miles.
Daniel Trampe (Dublin HS) finished ninth (21:32).

Next, the Gladiators will compete in the George Brooks Memorial Invitational hosted by Diablo Valley College on Sept. 23, when the Chabot women’s team will join the men’s team for the competition.
