Councilmember Pentin Running For Mayor

Jerry Pentin has served the Pleasanton City Council since 2012.

PLEASANTON, CA — Longtime Pleasanton Councilmember Jerry Pentin will be running for the mayor's seat in this November's election.

Pleasanton Weekly first reported the news.

Pentin is serving his eighth year on the council and will term out this year after serving his second four-year term.

Pentin, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, has served on the Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, East Bay Community Energy Board of Directors Pleasanton Legislative Advocacy Committee and more, he said on his campaign website. Pentin said he played a role in the Firehouse Theatre build, initiated the ban on vaping products and advocated for the renovation of the Veteran's Memorial.

"I believe I have served this city the best I can," he said on his website. "I've done my homework, studied the issues, met with both sides on many issues before the council and then voted for what is best for all residents of Pleasanton."

Pentin said his priorities include: maintaining local control of the city government; advocating for pension reform; protecting open space; provide clean water; provide affordable housing; continue planning for a new library and city facilities; support first responders; and more.

Pentin said he has been endorsed by outgoing Mayor Jerry Thorne, who will term out this year after serving his eighth year as mayor, and other local officials including outgoing Livermore Mayor John Marchand, Pleasanton Vice Mayor Kathy Narum and Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern.
