It all started with a question a couple of years ago Why can't we create a platform for young cricketers in our backyard? In the short two-year span combined San Ramon Cricket Association, Dublin Cricket League and Cricket for Cubs have not only answered the question in its entirety but achieved something phenomenal. They just successfully conducted a PSD youth cricket tournament in the tri-valley area.
From November 19th to 22nd,2017 around 14 teams competed in under 11, under 13 and under 15 age categories in PSD Cricket tournament. Players as far from San Diego and Michigan participated in the tournament and one of the team under 11 category is all girls team and they rocked. Games were played on the astroturf wickets in Patelco Sports Complex, Pleasanton and Fallen Sports Complex, Dublin. Some of the games were played under lights which were a visual treat to watch.
Just to put the grand success in perspective, in the entire tournament over 5000 runs were scored with the bat which includes 6 centuries and 18 fifties. In the bowling department in excess of 300 wickets were taken with 200+ catches. These numbers indicate just one thing, that is every kid played their heart out. Visit https://cricclubs.com/PSDYCT for complete statistics. Off the field, over 1000 meals were served during these four days and countless volunteering hours from dedicated parents leading up to the tournament.
