Danville Bakery & Patisserie Opening Pleasanton Location

PLEASANTON, CA — The Bay Area’s best croissants are headed to Pleasanton. Maison Benoit, a Danville bakery that beat out more than 350 competitors in 2025 to win the Grand Prix at the 2025 San Francisco Best Croissant Competition, will open a location on 337 Main Street in Pleasanton.

“I love the fact that this is one of the East Bay's most vibrant communities, attracting people from nearby towns as well, with a well-traveled population like in Danville who I believe will appreciate authentic quality food,” said Benoit Vialle, a Lafayette resident and Paris native who opened the Danville bakery on Railroad Avenue in January 2024.

Vialle originally worked for Microsoft, then in fine wine, then at Sotheby’s. He later attended culinary school in France, where he met bakers and pastry chefs he recruited to Maison Benoit, according to a Danville-San Ramon report. The Danville bakery’s head chef is from Paris and its pastry chef is from Bordeaux.

Vialle told Patch that he aims to open the Pleasanton location in early 2027. The city has approved the project, and he is currently obtaining permits from the Alameda County Health Department and the Pleasanton City Building Department. The new location will take over a portion of the former Bank of America branch, which closed in 2024. The space will be about 6,500 square feet, not including the outdoor patio, he said.

Vialle said the larger space and kitchen will allow the bakery to expand its offerings. “We will stay true to what has made us famous and successful in Danville: excellent bread, viennoiseries (we won the San Francisco Best Croissant competition in 2025), and pastries, and a variety of very classic French savory items (sandwiches, salads, quiches, etc).,” he told Patch. The location will also have its own production lab to make everything locally, according to the Tri-Valley Weekly.

The Danville location’s extensive menu includes full cakes, croque monsieurs, tarts, macarons, and even a grand croissant available for $35. It also offers a full menu of coffee, lattes, and teas. In 2025, the bakery was named the Best Restaurant, Bakery, or Catering Business from the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce.
