Deadly DUI Suspect Arrested On Public Intoxication Charge In Pleasanton

BREAKING: Pleasanton resident Yarenit Liliana Malihan was arrested Friday afternoon in the 5500 block of West Las Positas.

PLEASANTON, CA — A woman arrested in September by California Highway Patrol officers on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter has been arrested again – this time in Pleasanton on suspicion of public intoxication, according to police records. The Pleasanton Police Department arrest log shows Yarenit Liliana Malihan was arrested at 2:47 p.m. on Friday in the 5500 block of West Las Positas.

Malihan, 40, the wife of an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested on Sept. 9, 2016, by CHP officers on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter after a fatal crash on I-680 in a San Ramon collision that took the life of a 3-year-old boy. The crash killed Elijah Dunn and seriously injured his siblings and mother.

Following her September arrest, Malihan was treated for minor injuries at San Ramon Regional Medical Center and booked into the county jail. Malihan was driving on a provisional license the night of the tragic crash as the result of another alleged DUI-related crash in Pleasanton. According to Alameda County Court records, Malihan was also arrested in June of 2016 and faces three charges, including child cruelty and driving under the influence, which were filed in August.
