Dia De Los Muertos Celebration Planned In Pleasanton
The community is invited to submit requests for a ceremonial Ofrenda altar to be displayed in the library.
PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton community is invited to help honor the dead by participating in the city’s Día de los Muertos celebration on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Pleasanton Library.
The celebration will take place from 1-3 pm and feature storytime, a mariachi band, crafts, light refreshments, and a viewing of Ofrendas, the traditional altars built to honor loved ones. The community is invited to submit their own Ofrendas, which will be exhibited at the library during the first week of November.
Ofrenda submissions are accepted on a first come, first served basis until Thursday, Oct. 26. Fill out this form with the names of loved ones you wish to honor, and return it in-person to the library or email it to libraryprograms@cityofpleasanton.ca.gov.

The Día de los Muertos celebration is the second of the city’s new Cultural Celebration Series. Future events include Diwali on Nov. 5, Native American Heritage Month on Nov. 18, the Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 3, Black History Month Celebration on Feb. 24, AAPI Heritage Month Celebration on May 11, and a Juneteenth Celebration on June 15.
Nearby, the Bankhead Theater will host a "Ballet Folklorico Mexicano" on Oct. 29 at 3 pm. The Livermore Public Library and La Familia will also host a Día de los Muertos Community Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 4.
