Distressed Hiker Airlifted From Pleasanton Ridge

Numerous crews came to the rescue of a hiker authorities said was in an "altered state of consciousness."

PLEASANTON, CA - Numerous rescue agencies collaborated on a helicopter rescue of a distressed hiker on Pleasanton Ridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Early Monday morning, an East Bay Regional Park Helicopter Eagle located a female hiker in an “altered state of consciousness” stranded about three miles from a Sunol trailhead. Crews from San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire, and Falck Ambulance helped tend to the hiker, while a CHP helicopter lowered a rescue technician from SRVFPD. The hiker was placed in a rescue harness.

The helicopter airlifted the hiker and the technician to the trailhead on Foothill Road, and when they landed she was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
