Dublin Bicyclist Recognized Missing Pleasanton Boy From Alert System

The boy was missing for hours until an observant bicyclist in a nearby city found him.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police officials say a tense three-hour search for a missing Pleasanton boy Tuesday finally ended thanks to a Nixle notification put out by the police agency and an alert Dublin bicyclist. Police sent out the notification Tuesday afternoon after Daniel Romeo, 11, did not arrive for his school pickup at Lydiksen Elementary School. School officials, parents and police started searching for the boy, who had last been seen walking toward Foothill Road at about 3:15 p.m.

Several hours later, a bicyclist riding the Iron Horse Trail in Dublin called the police department to say they found Daniel.

“The bicyclist had been notified by others on the trail to look for Romeo and was shown a picture and description from the Nixle notification sent out by police,” police said in a statement.
