Eerie Wedding Day Photo May Have Captured Hotel’s Famous Ghost

Hotel staff never reveal which room is said to be haunted, but they firmly believe they have otherworldly guests in residence.

PLEASANTON, CA — An East Bay woman believes a photo taken on her daughter’s wedding day may have caught one of the famous and elusive Rose Hotel ghosts on camera. Barbara Weatherton said her daughter was in one of the rooms at the popular Pleasanton hotel preparing for the big day when the photo was taken.

Weatherton says a woman can be seen in the upper left corner of the photo.

“The bridal party had checked in at the hotel late that evening after the wedding rehearsal,” Weatherton told Patch. “As Tiffany (pictured) and another daughter walked up some stairs, they both instantaneously, felt dizzy with a whoosh as if something had blown through them. Tiffany could not stop thinking about the occurrence through the evening and the next morning when the picture was taken.”

A longtime employee at the Rose Hotel recently said paranormal activity has been witnessed in the basement and in one of the rooms. Hotel staff never reveal which room is said to be haunted, but they firmly believe they have otherworldly guests in residence.

Just the down street, in the empty upstairs hallway above Handles Gastropub, in a building that stands in the location of one of Pleasanton’s original hotels, an unnerving shadow has been spotted on multiple occasions over the past two years.

In a photo taken on Oct. 20, a long, shadowy figure can be seen in the lower corner of the mirror about 15 feet back from the wall. This is not the first time the ghostly shadow has been caught on camera. In 2015, a photo taken during one of the Museum on Main’s annual Ghost Walk tours seemed to show the shape of a person peeking out from inside the corner of the same mirror at the end of the hallway behind the actress’ shoulder as she spoke to those on the tour. The next day, the shadowy figure showed up in the lower part of the mirror in one of the photos that were taken in the empty hallway.
