Eight Firefighters Graduate from Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Academy

The recruits, including the first female to join the ranks since 2013, recently graduated from the 2016 fire academy.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A graduation ceremony was held in Livermore for eight new firefighters, who will join the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. The recruits recently completed the grueling 16-week academy during the hottest time of the year. The group started out with 13 candidates and ended with eight.

Battalion Chief Aaron Lacey said the department has not had a female firefighter within the ranks since 2013.

“The eight recruits are happy and proud of their accomplishment,” Lacey said. “As Training Chief, I am proud of each and every recruit and look forward to the memories to come.”

During the academy process, the recruits learned about public safety basics.

"A sample of the many topics the recruits learn are advanced fire behavior, ventilation, vehicle extrication, wildfire operations, and basic/advanced emergency medical care," Lacey said in a previous article.
