Craig Smith, author of Counting the Days: POWS, Internees, and Stragglers of World War II in the Pacific, is going on a tour across California to discuss his new book, and will be in Pleasanton in late June.

He will be speaking on June 21 at 7:00 pm at Towne Center Books in Pleasanton, CA.

Counting the Days is the true story of six prisoners of war, captured and imprisoned by both sides during the conflict that the Japanese called the “Pacific War.” As in all wars, the prisoners were civilians as well as military personnel.

Counting the Days is the story of their struggles to stay alive, the small daily triumphs that kept them going­—and for some, their almost miraculous survival.
