Deadly Tesla Crash Under Investigation In Pleasanton
The crash was reported Saturday around 6 p.m. at the intersection of W. Las Positas Blvd. and Hacienda Drive.
PLEASANTON, CA — An investigation is underway after a Tesla exploded into flames after hitting a cement wall in Pleasanton Saturday night, killing the driver, police officials said.
The battery of the car, a 2018 Tesla Model S, re-ignited at some point after it was cleared from the scene, forcing fire crews to put out the fire, police said.
The deadly crash was reported around 6 p.m. at the intersection of W. Las Positas Blvd. and Hacienda Drive.

Police say the male driver was killed in the wreck. The driver's identity has not been released, and it has not yet been determined whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision, according to police.
Sections of W. Las Positas Blvd. and Hacienda Drive were closed at 7:15 p.m. Saturday night and reopened early Sunday morning.
