Fire Causes $45,000 Worth of Damage at Zorn's Restaurant

Fire officials say a fire that caused $45,000 worth of damage at Zorn's restaurant in Pleasanton began in the kitchen area. 

According to Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Joe Testa, firefighters, along with Pleasanton Police, were called to 3015 Hopyard Road just before 4 p.m. on Sunday.

No one was in the restaurant at the time of the fire and fire crews knocked down the flames before the fire spread to nearby businesses.

"The origin of the fire is believed to be liquids located on an unattended stovetop," Testa said. "The specific cause of the fire remains under investigation. It is unknown when the restaurant will reopen."

No one was injured during the blaze. Police and fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire. 

Across the street from Zorn's, in 2012, Rancho Grande Taqueria also closed after a fire on a stovetop caused major damage to the popular Mexican restaurant. The restaurant opened a year later. Read the full story here.
