Firefighters Rescue 2 Guinea Pigs From Pleasanton House Fire

The blaze displaced five residents.

PLEASANTON, CA — Livermore-Pleasanton Fire crews knocked down a fire that displaced five residents Friday morning, fire officials said. The blaze was reported in the 7800 block of Marigold Court just before 11 a.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire and firefighters were able to rescue two guinea pigs from inside the residence.

"The fire started in the garage and was caused by an electrical short," fire officials said in a statement. "There was heavy fire damage to the garage and attic area of the home. Initial damage estimates are $200,000 for the structure and $50,000 in content loss."

No one was injured during the blaze.
