Foothill High School Celebrating Head Coach's US Citizenship

PLEASANTON, CA — A beloved Foothill High School track coach is getting a special congratulations ceremony from his Falcons family this week. Jorge Quero Aguilar will be sworn in by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as a U.S citizen.

The swearing in takes place 2:15 p.m. Thursday in the Foothill High School Multipurpose Room. USCIS San Jose field office director James Wyrough will administer the Oath of Allegiance and make congratulatory remarks. The Foothill Choir, the American Legion Post 237, around 30 seniors from Foothill High’s "We The People" civics class, and approximately 40 members of the track team plan to be in attendance. Two of Quero Aguilar’s former student athletes are also scheduled to speak during the ceremony about the coach's impact on their lives.

Quero Aguilar has been a member of the Foothill community for the past 11 years, beginning as assistant track coach and serving the last 10 years as head track coach. He comes from Mexico, where he attended Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (in English: Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education). As a track and field athlete, Quero Aguilar competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m, long jump and javelin. His sports certifications include USATF Level One, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the International Youth Conditioning Association, according to his Falcons bio.
