George Harrison only toured as a solo artist twice. First in 1974 with Billy Preston and others on the “George Harrison & Friends” tour of North America and then in Japan in 1991 with Eric Clapton. Although he would continue to make the occasional guest appearance with other artists in the 1990’s, there were no more concerts. George Harrison died in 2001 after battling lung cancer. He was only 58. The years since Harrison’s death have seen the “Quiet Beatle” become more popular than ever. Many felt that he had much more to contribute to the world when he died. Martin Scorcese’s excellent “All Things Must Pass” has been featured on Netflix and Amazon and has given thousands a deep dive into Harrison; the man and the musician. Before, during and after Beatlemania. Oh, of course, there are those songs. Harrison’s compositions still stand tall. Quite a feat, considering he wrote and recorded in the shadow of Lennon/ McCartney. There is no denying the lasting majesty of Harrisongs like “My Sweet Lord,” ”Taxman,” “Something,” Here Comes The Sun,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth,)” “What Is Life,” “Photograph (for Ringo Starr)” and many more.

Now, as the 50th anniversary of Harrison’s Grammy Hall Of Fame solo debut album is upon us, UK singer/songwriter/guitarist Nick Bold (ex-Virginia Wolf with Jason Bonham) and his band are starring in George! The Concert featuring Bold as Harrison, performing George’s Beatles classics, solo hits and material from his supergroup project, The Traveling Wilburys. Nick Bold has been playing Harrison in Beatle tributes for over a decade now and if you spend any time with the Manchester native, you’ll begin to wonder if the very spiritual George may have decided to pay us all a visit. Bold’s performance is energetic, uplifting and as close to the ‘real deal’ as you could ever imagine.
