Ghostly Tradition Leads to Unforgettable Fairytale Marriage Proposal

Did she say yes?

A recent tour of Pleasanton’s most haunted buildings offered an Illinois man the chance to pull off one of the most unexpected and memorable wedding proposals possible.

Jared Neidel, 22, secretly schemed for weeks with members of the Museum on Main’s staff in order to coordinate the perfect proposal during the popular Ghost Walk tour hosted by the museum. Neidel and his longtime girlfriend, 23-year-old Courtney Jespersen of Ripon, have made attending the popular tour an annual tradition, according to Jespersen’s sister Danielle Jespersen of Livermore.

On October 23, when the tour group stopped inside the Rose Hotel, in front of a throng of amateur ghost hunters, Neidel flawlessly executed his fairytale proposal.

“During the tour’s stop at the Rose Hotel, the ghost actress handed Courtney a bouquet of roses in front of the whole tour crowd in the hotel,” Danielle said. “Jared got down on one knee and proposed, and Courtney said yes! When she turned to the balcony, she saw that her parents were there for the surprise, too!”

Jespersen and Neidel were dressed as Cinderella and Prince Charming, which made the perfect fairytale setting.

“It was a huge spectacle, and everyone at the hotel broke out in applause,” Danielle told Patch.
