The Star: Carondelet senior forward Rogan Dolan finished with two goals and an assist, including the game-winning score only two minutes into the match.

The Turning Point: Dolan took a long pass right up the middle of the pitch from Allison Stribling to open the game’s scoring only two minutes after kickoff.

The Bottom Line: A logjam of injuries has slowed Foothill since mid-December, and the Falcons' 3-0 loss to Carondelet was no exception.

Since the start of the season, the girls soccer team has faced myriad injuries.

That short-handedness was on display with five starters out of the lineup against Carondelet as the Falcons were shut out 3-0 at Roger Dabney Memorial Field in Pleasanton on Tuesday.

“Right now, we’re trying to work our way back,” Foothill coach Ron Lambert said. “We’ve had to rely on some of our younger players to fill the void and that leads to a lot of inconsistency.”

That was apparent from the beginning. Carondelet’s Rogan Dolan needed only two minutes to sneak past the Falcon backrow and stick in the game’s first score.

“The ball was just kind of scattered in the middle and Allison (Stribling) got a really good ball in to me,” Dolan said. “I was just wide open after her awesome pass.”

Close to 20 minutes later, Dolan found the net again after she deflected a touch pass from Kory Lamet past the Falcon keeper.

Shauna Herman finished off the Cougar scoring frenzy in the 25th minute when she snuck past the Foothill defense for a one-on-one showdown with the goalie and rolled one into the back of the net.

Foothill has done well while playing through so many injuries, , but the talent of Carondelet proved to be too much to fight through.

“We’re a young team,” Dolan said. “When you have seven freshmen on a team that have never played at this level, it can be difficult.”

Foothill will have a chance to bounce back, however, when it hosts Granada at 6 p.m. Thursday.
