Juanita Haugen Scholarship honors PUSD Seniors for exceptional Character and Community Service

The Community of Character awards are based on the character values of Responsibility, Compassion, Self-Discipline, Honesty, Respect and Integrity.

High School seniors attending Pleasanton Unified School District schools to apply for the annual Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship.

Juanita Haugen was a long-time school board member, trustee and president of the Pleasanton Unified School District, she inspired the Pleasanton Community of Character initiative.

In her honor, scholarships will recognize students who have a strong record of civic engagement and have demonstrated exceptional character by role modeling the traits of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, and Self-Discipline.

An award of at least $1,000 will be presented to students in the three PUSD high schools. Last year, nine scholarships were awarded due to successful fundraising.

Applications and guidelines are available online at www.CommunityofCharacter.org

The deadline to apply is Monday, Feb 9. 2026.

Selections will be announced approximately a month after the deadline and recipients will be honored at the Annual Awards Luncheon in May.

The Community of Character Collaborative is a non-profit committee of volunteers representing a cross section of the community including the PUSD, City of Pleasanton, Chamber of Commerce and other organizations working to create a community culture built on values, goodwill and these character traits. We strive to inspire, encourage, recognize, and reward good character! We believe these six-character traits can impact the culture of our community.
