Lengthy Danville Police Pursuit Ends in Downtown Pleasanton Sunday Morning

A 50-year-old Brentwood man was arrested following the 30-minute chase through the Tri-Valley.

PLEASANTON, CA — A 50-year-old Brentwood man was arrested after he allegedly led officers on a pursuit through two counties and several East Bay cities last weekend, police officials said.

Danville Police Lieutenant Allen Shields credits an alert citizen for reporting the suspicious behavior that ended with an arrest of a would-be commercial burglar.

“At about 11:43 p.m. Saturday a witness called police to report someone who appeared to be casing in the 700 block of San Ramon Valley Boulevard,” Shields told Patch.

Shields said when officers arrived in the commercial business area, the driver immediately fled onto the I-680. California Highway Patrol officers took over the chase, which lasted more than 30 minutes, weaving through San Ramon, Dublin and finally ending in Pleasanton in the area of Main and St. John streets.

“The pursuit terminated when the driver went down a dead-end street in Pleasanton,” Shields said.

Danville Police arrested 50-year-old Gregory William Franciscovich of Brentwood. Franciscovich was charged with a probation violation, evading officers, possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license, according to Shields.

“Many of the crimes we are able to stop is as a result of citizens reporting suspicious behavior,” Shields said.
