UPDATE: Fire Crews Contain Vegetation Fire in Pleasanton
Fire officials are calling the fire suspicious.
Update by Bay City News:
Defensible space between homes and wild land vegetation kept a suspicious grass fire from damaging residential structures in Pleasanton this afternoon, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at 2:15 p.m. during hot and dry weather conditions to an area near Hearst Drive and Remillard Court, fire officials said. When firefighters arrived they found about one acre of a steep hillside on fire, according to the fire department. The hillside contains many oak trees, which did not catch fire, firefighters said. But if they did, it would have put nearby homes at greater risk of burning, acting Deputy Fire Chief Joe Testa said.

Testa said three and three-quarter acres burned, but no injuries were reported. The fire burned some fencing and threatened many homes, but Testa said the space between homes and vegetation kept the damage from being much worse.
