Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Respond to Downed Wires, Trees and Power Outages Due to Severe Winds
Fire crews were busy in both cities thanks to gusty winds.
Starting at 12:25 p.m. on December 30, 2014, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) began receiving numerous requests for assistance with wires down, trees down and power outages due the severe winds that we have experienced in the area.
Amongst the most serious incidents in Livermore and Pleasanton were:
1. A large pine tree that fell at Kasier Permanente Pleasanton Medical Offices on Stoneridge Mall Road in Pleasanton leading to one minor injury with a female transported by ambulance.

2. A tree that fell into power lines in the 3000 block of Vineyard Ave in Pleasanton that severed a power pole and power lines and left Vineyard Ave. closed from 12:25 till present with an ETA of a 4:00 p.m. re-opening.
3. A large tree that fell across Happy Valley Rd. Taking out electrical, cable and phone lines and leaving Happy Valley Rd. closed from 2:25 p.m. till present with an estimated re-opening of 5:00 p.m.

4. A large tree that fell into the roof of a single family home breaking through the ceiling and into one of the bedrooms while the owners were home on Bentley Place in Livermore. No one was injured in the house at the time the tree fell through the roof.
The Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters were aware that today’s wind event was likely to take place and ensured preparedness at this morning’s daily briefing. Winds have gusted up to 43 knots in the Livermore-Pleasanton region with the highest winds occurring at around 1:00 p.m.
