Local Businesses Recognized by Pleasanton City Council

The Pleasanton City Council recognized local companies for achieving 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years of business in Pleasanton at a presentation at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 2. The Council presented each of the businesses with a special gift to commemorate its tenure in Pleasanton.

“Pleasanton’s quality of life is closely tied to the economic vitality of our business community, and we are honored to publicly recognize these businesses’ milestones,” noted Economic Development Director Pamela Ott. “The companies represent a continuum from small, sole proprietorships that provide everyday services to medium sized firms making advancements in their industry to national retailers. That diversity is what makes Pleasanton’s business community as strong as it is. They have provided jobs, services and products valued by our residents and other businesses. They have clearly helped make Pleasanton the quality community that it is.”

The longevity of these 189 businesses is a testament to both their own tenacity and the healthy business climate afforded in Pleasanton. As a result, they have all defied the national odds of survival for a small business. The Small Business Administration reports that two-thirds of new employer establishments survive at least two years, 44 percent survive at least four years, and just 31 percent survive at least seven years.
